CGE (Computable General Equilibrium) Modelling

CGE models are used to estimate the economic impacts of tourism. These economic impacts are the changes in the economic contribution that result from specific events or activities that comprise ‘shocks’ to tourism demand.

STCRC, during its last five years, was a world leader in respect to using CGE models for estimating the economic impacts of tourism shocks. It developed a CGE model (MMRF4-Tourism) and populated it with data. Prior to the closure of the STCRC, this model was loaded on to the STCRC website so that it could continue to be used. It is available for download here. The model has been broken down into five parts for easier download due to the amount of data it contains. The model also requires additional software to operate and this is also available here.
