Dr Agathe Wegner has taken out the prestigious Sir Frank Moore Award for Excellence offered by the STCRC.
The former PhD student of Murdoch University, Perth, was given the award during Sir Frank Moore’s testimonial dinner.
“I am absolutely thrilled, I still cannot believe it,” said Dr Wegner, who received a $5000 cheque with her award to advance her science career.
“I am positive that receiving this honour will forward my career, particularly when working with industry. It is a great connection to have with both academia and industry.”
The award was this year renamed for Sir Frank Moore, in honour of his contribution to the tourism industry.
Dr Wegner’s thesis explores interactions between protected area managers, including conservation staff, and commercial tourism operators.
