Farm and nature tourism report

A recent pilot workshop for the STCRC’s Farm and Nature Tourism on your Property program held in Cooktown, Far North Queensland, has introduced rural and property owners to the tourism industry.

Participants also had the opportunity to work on the STCRC’s Stage One: Assessment Tool and identify their property and region’s tourism potential.

Key speakers on the day included Michael Tomlinson and John Harrison from the Cook Shire Council, Penny Johnson representing the Cooktown Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Tom Rosser from Billy Tea Bush Safaris, Terry Rayner from Endeavour River Escape, Kevin White from the SBFO Program, and Neil McGilp from the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry (QLD).

There was a high level of interest received from across the region and several participants are looking to move into stage two of the program.
