A research kit for Visitor
Information Centres
Assessing your contribution to tourism yield
Welcome to the Visitor Information Centre Research Kit – the ‘VICkit!’
Visitor Information Centres (VICs) make an important contribution to the economic,
social and recreational well-being of their communities. Research has indicated
that that the quality of customer service, facilities and information delivery will
impact significantly on visitors’ activities in a region and also other neighboring
regions. VICs can influence the length of stay, the attractions visited, activities
undertaken and the overall travel experience of visitors. This will impact on a
visitor’s willingness to return to the region and to provide a positive word-of-mouth
reference for the destination.
Visitors are becoming increasingly well-travelled and are influenced by a myriad
of communication and marketing messages. It is essential that local tourism decision
makers have access to regular and current market information on which to base their
decisions. The VICkit is designed to assist in this information gathering process
and is intended to complement other information and research mediums generally available
to the tourism industry.
As the Sustainable Tourism CRC is no longer in operation, the VICKIT cannot be ordered online or by the phone anymore.
